JJ Abrams To Develop New 'Twilight Zone' Movie

J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot recently struck a deal with Rod Serling‘s estate to develop an event series based on an unproduced screenplay by the famed writer and Twilight Zone creator and host.

Titled The Stops Along the Way, Serling’s script was the writer’s final work before his passing in 1975 at age 50. Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV secured the story rights from Serling’s widow Carol. According to Variety, the project is now being shopped to TV outlets as a limited series.

“I’m terribly, wonderfully excited that J.J. is interested and going to do it,” Carol Serling said. “It was one of my husband’s favorite pieces. He thought it had great potential.”

It’s no surprise that Abrams would be interested in producing the screenplay. The filmmaker has often cited The Twilight Zone as his favorite TV show growing up and a major influence on his career. (Remember that black and white Felicity tribute episode based on The Twilight Zone?)

Little is known about Stops Along the Way, but Carol Serling said that it involves “a little bit of fantasy, a little bit of imagination” and that it “takes place over a long period of time.”
