Peabody Shareholder Meeting Rally: Marshall Johnson, Black Mesa Resident and Tonizhoni Ani member from Students Against Peabody on Vimeo.

May 8th, 2014 at Peabody’s annual shareholder meeting, Marshall Johnson, Black Mesa Resident and Tonizhoni Ani member, was denied the space to voice his concerns about Peabody’s exploitation of the Navajo Sandstone Aquifer. This is his response to the people protesting outside the meeting.

“[Peabody’s mining practice] has contaminated, overdrafted, depressurized, and depleted our aquifer, our sole source of groundwater.”

“I want to thank Washington University students and the spirit that started there – may that continue from school to school, from institution to institution. We can do this nobly.
