Everyone is very guarded around here. I know it was a police officer who transported them, and I know he is a close personal friend of many of the cops in my town, some who I grew up with. The events of that day were terribly stressful on the police in town, and it took weeks before you saw many Newtown Police out on the streets. Police from all over the state came and patrolled the areas.
I will tell you one thing that I do find disturbing. I live at the top of a mountain that overlooks Sandy Hook. I was in NYC at the time of the shooting but made it back home somewhere around 1pm. Despite all this wonderful aerial footage everyone seems to have, I did not see one helicopter over Sandy Hook that day. I saw easily 500 newsvans, but nothing in the air.
