For example, China has decided to crack down on VPN users and ban them because they want ultimate control of their people. VPN’s allowed the citizens of China to see things the government doesn’t approve of like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and multiple other websites. This is a complete and utter obliteration of the human right to freedom and it is now being controlled by a communist leftist regime.
Additionally, on November 1, 2017, Russia decided to follow suit with China, and remove the rights of their citizens to ‘surf the internet without government oversight.’

Say! Let’s put on our tin foil hats, make up some crap you’re so fond of and ask this question: who knows your VPN isn’t a CIA honey pot? That would make some excellent fear porn also, wouldn’t it, that wouldn’t bode well for the product you’re hawking.
Why would anybody have a reason to trust a deceiver like you, Lisa, trying to scalp a buck any which way, in the first place? Are you simply going to die a cheap, white trash, exploitative idiot? It is ridiculous. The idea of a VPN for anybody that uses their computer at home is stupid assed, anyway. You can’t hide what you do from your ISP. Unless a person is up to no good, going from hotel to hotel, whatever, a VPN is worthless. Critical stuff is already encrypted, end to end, like banking. A VPN helps nobody, whose information is usually hacked or leaked by the companies they deal with. For normal people, not doing criminal things, it can only provide a person more anonymity from people that don’t really give a shit who they are to even try to get information from an ISP about who they are. The ISP isn’t going to simply give this information out, to anybody not law enforcement. Try to go to a company with an IP address and ask the person’s identity, because they recognized you’re a real dipshit and told you so, on the web. Lot’s of luck.
So, what are you protecting yourself over? Activity on some stupid assed forum like BeforeItsNews? You think the government is chomping at the bit to locate morons? A VPN, for most everybody in this world, is a just way to get paranoids that nobody gives a shit about to piss away money. That’s all. While a vpn might be of limited us against vandalizing miscreants If the nsa wants to monitor you a vpn is not going to do anything.
So, you should be aware of what you are paying for.
If you want protection against “run-of-the-mill” vandals and thieves and can afford to pay for it then it is a good idea.
If you want total virtual privacy from the prying eyes of big business and governments then you are out of luck.
They are generations ahead in computational power and can crack and hack anything anywhere and usually with ease and they are physically and virtually (like the pun?) embedded in the network.

VPN’s are cool but many VPN services are likely controlled and run by intel agencies. Then you have to guard against ip leakage, fingerprinting, and DNS compromising your privacy. I share your sentiment, but for me it’s more trouble than it’s worth. If you are a matter of interest, then it’s safe to say there is virtually nothing you can do to guarantee your privacy.
The only thing worse than lack of privacy is thinking you have privacy when you do not!
I have had a VPN for a while. And they are absolutely needed for general surfing. But the issue is, you could use it, make it look like your in Canada, but if you have to login in to Facebook, Google, Youtube, etc. Yes your actual location is hidden, but they are still collecting your personal data.
I wish that was not true, but often, what you want to see/read, you have to login to do. And then they made the VPN moot.
