The controversy has to do with the idea that the President’s legal name on his birth certificate is Barry Soetoro not Barrack Obama. It also has to do with the idea that all kinds of white lies may have been on his college transcripts so he could qualify for student aide as a foreign student under the name Barry Soetoro. Via the Brazil; – The Accidental Birther or Born in the U.S.A.? – Obama’s grandparents, Stanley and Madelyn Dunham, could have made an in-person report of a Hawaiian birth in 1961 even if the infant Barack Obama Jr. had been foreign-born. Similarly, the newspaper announcements of Obama’s birth do not prove he was born in Hawaii, since they could have been triggered by the grandparents registering the birth as Hawaiian, even if the baby was born elsewhere. Moreover, the address reported in the newspaper birth announcements was the home of Obama’s grandparents, Stanley and Madelyn Dunham. The Obama’s were not known to be living there at the time. Monday Funny: Via the Chicago Tribune; – Court orders Emanuel off mayoral ballot – In a 2-1 ruling, the appellate panel said Emanuel does not meet the residency requirement of having lived in Chicago for a year prior to the election. The judges reversed a decision by the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners, which had unanimously agreed that Emanuel was eligible to run for mayor. Ruling embedded below.
