California’s Rambo: Christopher Jordan Dorner (Open Thread)

We haven’t yet discussed the case of Christopher Jordan Dorner, who’s the subject of a manhunt in California. Here’s some background: [emphasis added to quotes]

Arguably the most wanted man in America, fired police Officer Christopher Jordan Dorner may well be in hiding — plotting his next move after allegedly killing three people. Officers toting high-powered weapons fanned out Friday across thousands of square miles, searching for their former colleague. …

The 270-pound former Navy lieutenant promised to bring “unconventional and asymmetrical warfare” to police officers and their families, calling it the “last resort” to clear his name and get back at a department that he claims mistreated him.Dorner, 33, is wanted in the killing of two people in Irvine, California, on Sunday and in the shooting of three Los Angeles-area police officers Thursday, which killed one of them. …

Despite the killings, Dorner seemed to be getting some sympathy. Where police see a violent killer, others saw Dorner as kind of an epic anti-hero waging war against an institution they see as corrupt.

Not only have the statist, leftist lamestream media not covered this story very thoroughly until now (it happened last weekend), but they also seem upset that the alleged perp does not fit the profile that they would prefer.

First of all, he’s black. Although he’s a veteran, which fits their “crazed veteran” meme, Dorner’s also an Obamaphile, who’s PRO-GUN CONTROL as well as ANTI-BIRTHER.  As the Gateway Pundit wrote:

Another liberal freak goes on a deadly shooting spree. Chris Dorner, the suspected mass-murdering cop killer on the run in California, is a big supporter of leftist leaders and liberal media hacks. Before he went on his killing spree he wrote a 22-page manifesto full of praise for leftist leaders in media and politics.

Let’s not forget another liberal freak who’s in the news this week.  That would be Floyd Corkins, a black, possibly gay, shooter who doesn’t fit their preferred narrative and so is given many fewer column inches in the leftist, statist lamestream media.

After years of thinking it over, Floyd Corkins finally had a plan.

He’d bought a gun and learned how to use it. He’d loaded three magazines. And he had stopped by Chick-fil-A to pick up 15 sandwiches, which he planned to smear in the dying faces of staffers he expected to kill at the Family Research Council in Washington.

It would be a statement, he said, “against the people who work in that building,” according to documents filed in U.S. District Court, where Corkins pleaded guilty on Wednesday to three charges related to the August shooting at the conservative policy group.

Corkins told Judge Richard Roberts that he hoped to intimidate gay rights opponents. … 

Corkins — who had chosen the research council as his target after finding it listed as an anti-gay group on the website of the Southern Poverty Law Center – had planned to stride into the building and open fire on the people inside in an effort to kill as many as possible, he told investigators, according to the court documents.

With regard to Dorner, Breitbart, via the Gateway Pundit, opined:

What’s being reported as Mr. Dorner’s manifesto not only endorses Hillary Clinton for president in 2016 and vigorously defends Barack Obama and the Democrats’ current gun control push, he also savages the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre and expresses all kinds of unabiding [admiration] for some of the biggest stars in the left-wing media — by name.

Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, Pat Harvey, Brian Williams, Soledad Obrien, Wolf Blitzer, Meredith Viera, Tavis Smiley, and Anderson Cooper, keep up the great work and follow Cronkite’s lead. I hold many of you in the same regard as Tom Brokaw and the late Peter Jennings. …

Willie Geist, you’re a talented and charismatic journalist.

Gun control advocates, including most of the leftist, statist lamestream media, were SO HOPING, you just know it, that California’s very own Rambo would be a NRA member, a conservative, perhaps a Tea Partier, and a Republican. He doesn’t fit the “narrative”, so they must ignore the truth, the WHOLE TRUTH, and nothing but the truth.

How about the fact that the Keystone Cops in CA actually SHOT innocent people because they LOOKED LIKE Dorner? Dorner, if anything, is a poster boy (no racism intended; it’s a well-known and apt metaphor) for better psychological screening of both military recruits as well as police recruits.

Don’t they psychologically screen people before they train them in marksmanship and “assymetrical warfare”?

I was reminded this morning that Piers Morgan, one of Dorner’s favorite pundits, went berserk on Governor Sarah Palin for using a target in campaign material. He called for her to apologize to Gabrielle Giffords, as if Palin had something to do with the tragedy that befell Giffords.

So now, will Morgan apologize to the families of Dorner’s victims?  Has the Southern Poverty Law Center apologized to Corkins’s victims?  I think not.

Update: 02/11/13  After reading his manifesto, I changed the post.  He claims that he is NOT a Christian, so I rewrote the sentence that mentioned the “clings to guns and religion meme.”
