Sandy Hook Massacre–The Saga Continues

More information, some of it questionable, is coming out about the alleged “lone shooter” in Sandy Hook, CT.  A special program will be aired tonight on Frontline, PBS, which includes background on Adam Lanza’s early life and his alleged psychiatric diagnoses.   The latest, besides rumors of Asperger’s Syndrome, is

sensory integration disorder, a medically controversial diagnosis that meant Adam had trouble coping with bright lights, loud noises, and knowing when he was in pain.

Are we being given this new information to explain away reports that he used earplugs that fateful day, despite the probability that he did not intend to walk away from that school?

This documentary features reporters from the Hartford Courant.  It seeks to rehabilitate the image that has emerged of Adam’s mother, Nancy Lanza.  Despite reports to the contrary, this new story says that: [emphasis added]

Between 2010 and 2012, Nancy took Adam to nearby gun ranges to practice shooting. Nancy purchased four firearms, including the Bushmaster semi-automatic rifle Adam is believed to have used in the attack, during the same period. Her friends say Nancy used target practice as a way to bond with her withdrawn son. Police also uncovered thousands of dollars worth of violent video games in the Lanzas’ home. Police believe Adam may have been inspired by the video games he played in the attack, since he changed the magazines of his weapons more frequently than was necessary, Frontline reported. Late Sunday, the Courant also reported that Adam may have felt that he was in direct competition with Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik, based on news articles about Breivik’s 2011 crime they found in the Lanzas’ home.

In the months before the attack, Nancy took frequent trips and left Adam at home unsupervised–including on one trip this past Thanksgiving–in an attempt to make him more independent.

The story also tells us that Adam Lanza allegedly had completely blacked out his bedroom, as well as the room in which he was wont to play those very violent videogames.  Total immersion.  That’s sounds healthy, and wise to allow. NOT!

There are two videos at the link, one shows Adam at age 4, with his mother, and another shows reporters discussing new evidence with a former FBI official.

We can continue our discussion of this bizarre story here, since the previous thread is quite long.  Anyone who watches Frontline can fill us in tomorrow.  The program will likely be available online after it’s been aired.  So how will this new information affect the latest attempts by leftists to impose gun control?

How does this new information conflict with what we’ve been told before?

Will this new information help or hinder the leftists in their campaign to gut the Second Amendment?

The news that Lanza changed ammo clips frequently, even though he didn’t need to, is certainly suspicious.  Is it designed to explain away a fact, such as that an inordinate number of clips were found on the scene, suggesting more than one shooter?  Or is it a “fact” designed to add momentum to suggestions that ammo clips must be controlled, too?
