Spiritual Preparedness For The Days Ahead

As I sit and write this article, I cannot wrap my mind around all that’s going on. A few years ago, things “appeared” to be getting bad. We heard of this scandal or that area of our world catching on fire. Today, all of sudden, America is in the middle of a Middle Eastern country’s civil war! Why? What does the Syrian conflict have to do with us?

When Russia, China, and Iran told us to mind our own business, it then began to make some sense. According to Ezekiel 38, God will bring the armies of Russia to the borders of Israel, along with Iran, Turkey, and other enemies of Israel. We now see a large build-up of our navy circling the wagons in the east Mediterranean Sea. The other day, I heard that Russia is doing the same. It sure seems to me that God is bringing the nations spoken of in His Word in Ezekiel 38 and 39 into that region. This war is going to take place at the beginning of what the Bible calls tribulation. This is the 70th week spoken to us by Daniel the prophet. The 70 weeks of Daniel’s prophecy was judgment against His chosen people, Israel. 69 of those weeks have been fulfilled. There’s one more to take place. This week, or 7 years, will begin after Jesus Christ has returned for His bride – the church of Jesus Christ. Those who have placed their faith and trust in Him as Savior will be removed or raptured from this time of judgment before it begins. I believe we’re seeing the labor pains of this horrible time of God’s wrath upon this earth.

So, what to do? Place your faith in the person of Jesus Christ. He said that, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; No one can come to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6) There’s not one person on planet earth who can get to live a life in heaven with The Lord apart from Him. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) Even though “all have sinned and come short of God’s glory,” and, “the wages of sin is death,” the GREAT NEWS is that “…God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Salvation is there for the taking (or should I say, for the accepting.) “Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” So then, “All who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Not might be or maybe, but shall be!

In order to be spiritually prepared, the very first detail to take care of is your personal salvation. Call upon Him right now. Ask Him to come into your life and save you. A prayer can look something like this – “Lord, I’m sorry for sinning against you and you only. Please take my sin away. Come into my life and save me. I’m trusting in you and your shed blood to take away my sin and save me. Thank you for saving me.”

Then, the second step in getting spiritually prepared for the days ahead, is growing your faith. “Faith comes from hearing and hearing from the Word of God.” Get a Bible if you don’t have one. Read it. Listen to it taught and preached. Memorize it. Meditate upon it. Take it with you. The vital element here is to get the truths of God’s Word into your heart, mind, will, and life.

The race ahead is for those who are prepared. And preparedness is all about faith – Faith in Christ as Savior – Faith in Christ for Security – Faith in Christ for Satisfaction – Faith in Christ as the All-Sufficient One!
