Exclusive: “Double Down” Authors Contradict

Obama’s Account of Finding His Birth Certificate
WHAT ARE MEDIA PERSONALITIES HIDING FOR OBAMA?
By Sharon Rondeau | The Post & Email

(Jan. 21, 2014) — In the book Double Down, written by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann and published last year, the authors write that Barack Hussein Obama found a document appearing to prove his birth in Hawaii in a box in his Chicago home on or about April 14, 2011.

There is no official raised seal on the short-form Certification
of Live Birth bearing the name of “Barack Hussein Obama”

However, in Obama’s Dreams From My Father, on page 26, Obama said he discovered his “birth certificate” during his high school years inside a book with “old vaccination forms” and an article published in a Hawaii newspaper written by his alleged father.  According to his biography, Obama the younger graduated high school in 1979.

Double Down was released one year after Obama reportedly won re-election to the presidency and covers a variety of issues from an “insider” perspective on Obama’s 2012 campaign against Mitt Romney, including the release of Obama’s long-form birth certificate on April 27, 2011, which reportedly stemmed from Obama’s opportune “find.”

Halperin is editor-at-large of TIME Magazine and worked for ABC News for nearly two decades, one of which was spent as political director.  Simultaneously, he is a political commentator at MSNBC, from which he was suspended on June 30, 2011 for “unacceptable comments” made about Obama.  The MSNBC story announcing Halperin’s suspension is unauthored, and the link to his alleged comments leads to current news.  A notation indicates that the story was “updated” on August 29, 2013, more than two years after the comments were made. While the upper video did not play for this writer, the lower video contains approximately four minutes of commentary by various panelists appearing on the show “Morning Joe,” none of which was found by this writer to be offensive or demeaning.

Heilemann writes for New York Magazine, is also an MSNBC commentator, and co-wrote a previous book with Halperin, Game Change, about Obama’s 2008 election.  The authors received a reported $5,000,000 advance to write their second book.  While the genre is cited as “non-fiction,” a review at Amazon by a New York Times reviewer describes the work as “a novelistic narrative that provides a you-are-there immediacy.”

Some reviews of Double Down indicate that the writing style is viewed as tabloid-like.  Obscenities are frequent in the available preview, which is written to clearly promote Obama’s persona, approach to politics, purported ability to lead, and legitimacy.  Wikipedia states that nearly all of the book’s sources are anonymous and that “The authors treated their interview subjects with alcohol in a private suite or restaurant to get them to open up.”

Obama claims that he was born at Kapiolani Children’s Medical Center in Honolulu, HI on August 4, 1961. Amongst questions surrounding Obama’s birthplace, background, constitutional eligibility and college years, real estate mogul Donald Trump, who was exploring a run for the presidency, publicly demanded that Obama release his “long-form” birth certificate which would state the name of the hospital, attending physician, and other details not present on the short-form first seen in 2008.

Kapiolani refuses to confirm Obama’s birth there.  In 2009, CNN claimed that paper birth records were discarded by the Hawaii Department of Health.

The authors of Double Down claim that the 2008 Obama campaign released his short-form Certification of Live Birth, purportedly obtained from the Hawaii Department of Health, on the internet, although it was first posted at The Daily KOS, not FighttheSmears, Obama’s 2008 campaign website.  However, Hawaii Department of Health spokeswoman Janice Okubo would not confirm that the image was that of a certified copy of the short-form presumably on file with the department.  Moreover, numerous experts declared the image a forgery within days of its release.

Halperin and Heilemann claim that Obama was elated upon finding the document from Kapiolani and gleefully presented it to his staff upon returning to the White House with the intent of proving his detractors, including Trump, wrong.  Contrary to the claim Obama made in Dreams, Double Down‘s authors state that “the president had no earthly idea where his family’s copy [of his birth certificate] was.”

The authors state that after Obama allegedly found the document, DNC attorney and former White House counsel Robert Bauer determined immediately that the item “wasn’t the birth certificate” and that Hawaii law forbade the release of his original detailed vital records, which is false.  There is no statute which prevents the Hawaii Department of Health from releasing a certified copy of a long-form birth certificate.  In 2009, after controversy arose about the legitimacy of the short-form image posted at The Daily KOS and other subsequent websites, the department restated a 2001 change in policy whereby only the short-form, or “abstract,” would be issued.  However, former Hawaii resident Miki Booth supplied images of long-form birth certificates belonging to acquaintances of hers which were released after the policy shift.

A link to the 2001 policy declaration is non-functional as of this writing.

Prior to Obama’s occupation of the White House, the long-form birth certificate was required to establish eligibility for the Hawaiian Home Lands Program, with the following contradictory statements:

There are two categories of documents used in determining eligibility: primary and secondary.

Primary Documents

Birth certificates (Certificates of Live Birth and Certifications of Live Birth) and Certificates of Hawaiian Birth are the primary documents used to determine native Hawaiian qualification.

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands accepts both Certificates of Live Birth (original birth certificate) and Certifications of Live Birth because they are official government records documenting an individual’s birth.  The Certificate of Live Birth generally has more information which is useful for genealogical purposes as compared to the Certification of Live Birth which is a computer-generated printout that provides specific details of a person’s birth.  Although original birth certificates (Certificates of Live Birth) are preferred for their greater detail, the State Department of Health (DOH) no longer issues Certificates of Live Birth.  When a request is made for a copy of a birth certificate, the DOH issues a Certification of Live Birth.

Just before the release of Obama’s long-form birth certificate, Joshua Wisch of the Hawaii Attorney General’s office told MSNBC that “the original document belongs to the state and cannot be released to anyone – or copied by anyone.”  However, Hawaii statutes say that vital records will not be released other than to an “applicant” who “has a direct and tangible interest in the record,” then lists the criteria for an individual to receive the record, which includes “the applicant” him- or herself.

A criminal investigation begun in September 2011 by the Maricopa County, AZ Cold Case Posse determined that the long-form birth certificate image posted on the White House website is a “computer-generated forgery,” along with Obama’s purported Selective Service registration form.  A second image placed on the White House website after 2008 does not bear an official seal from the Health Department, as does the short-form Certification of Live Birth belonging to Alan Booth, the original of which was mailed to The Post & Email after it was received by the applicant.

Cold Case Posse lead investigator Michael Zullo wrote in a 57-page affidavit filed with the Alabama Supreme Court, on penalty of perjury, states that Obama’s short-form and long-form birth certificates are forgeries.

On January 16, a citizen researcher contacted Wendy Wailehua-Vause, Public Relations Coordinator at Kapiolani Children’s Medical Center, to inquire if the keepsakes are still given to new parents, to which Wailehua-Vause answered in the affirmative, stating that the mementos are issued by the Medical Records Department.  On another occasion, when she was asked a specific question about Obama, she declined to comment.

Wailehua-Vause did not respond to a phone call from The Post & Email as to whether or not the issuance of the keepsake booklets was ever suspended.  Halperin and Heilemann do not show a photo of the hospital memento which they claim Obama found in Chicago.

The day before the book’s release, Halperin and Heilemann were interviewed by NBC’s Savannah Guthrie on the “Today” show, although in the available video clip, neither discussed the matter of the birth certificate.  In the online preview, the authors do not reference Obama’s claim in Dreams, but rather, depict the find as a means to address the “distraction” of Donald Trump, who had publicly demanded that Obama release his long-form birth certificate to prove that he was, at the least, born in the United States, and at the most, that he qualified as a “natural born Citizen” in accordance with Article II, Section 1, clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution.

Researcher and typesetter Douglas Vogt has named Guthrie and NBC executives as having conspired to obscure the forgery of the long-form birth certificate.

On the same day as Double Down‘s release, Booth was a guest on the WheresObamasBirthCertificate radio show and stated that the document the book described is merely “a souvenir” issued by Kapiolani Children’s Medical Center upon the birth of a child.  Last week, Booth mailed the keepsake she received from Kapiolani in 1981 after her son Alan Paliko Booth was born.

The second inside page of the booklet clearly states that it is a “Souvenir Certificate of Birth.”

Second inside page of keepsake issued by Kapiolani Children’s Medical Center to Miki Booth upon the birth of her son, Alan. Booth told The Post & Email that the signature of the attending physician, Dr. David Sinclair, did not appear on the designated line and that she wrote his name in herself for her records

While at the Hawaii Department of Health in September 2011, Booth was told by a supervisor that the short-form birth certificate was “the long-form.”

At about the same time that Fuddy became interim Health Department Director in late January 2011, Abercrombie had reported that he was unable to find a birth record for Obama in the state’s archives.  A link to a statement made by Fuddy that Obama was born in Honolulu is now non-functional.

On December 11, 2013, Health Department Director Loretta Fuddy, appointed in March 2011 by Gov. Neil Abercrombie, reportedly suffered cardiac arrhythmia following a water landing of the aircraft in which she was traveling on official business and passed away.  Two days prior, a source close to the criminal investigation declared that “prosecutions are coming.”
