Conservatives Rejoice: Poll Shows This Man Could Be Hillary’s Worst Nightmare

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

While many Democrats have already hitched their political wagons to Hillary Clinton more than two years ahead of the 2016 presidential election, Republicans still have a wide field of potential candidates.

A recent Rasmussen poll took a look at how the former first lady would fare against some of the more recognizable names in today’s GOP. While Clinton came out on top in each of the six hypothetical matchups, she received a nod from well below half of the respondents when facing all but two challengers – Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

According to the poll’s results, the Lone Star State Republicans received 37 and 36 percent of the vote, respectively.

Topping all of the other GOP contenders was Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, against whom Clinton came out on top by a 46-39 margin.

A surge in popularity for another potential nominee, however, might indicate big trouble for the expected Democrat nominee. World-renown neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who has become a huge star among conservatives since his retirement, matched the seven-point difference in support between Clinton and Paul.

Receiving 38 percent to Clinton’s 45, the poll indicates Carson could be a legitimate contender should he decide to seek the presidency. Given the enthusiastic support he receives at speeches and the grassroots campaign to convince him to run, it seems likely that his popularity will only increase as the election cycle approaches.

Judging from his reception among the general population, it is obvious the soft-spoken conservative’s message is resonating with likely voters.

Forty-seven percent of respondents supported Clinton against the remaining two challengers included in the poll. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie were backed by 36 and 33 percent, respectively.
