Jack Conway Supports Mountaintop Removal in Kentucky
Once endorsed by the Sierra Club, Democratic senate candidate Jack Conway is now supporting mountaintop removal, despite the enormous number of violations being cited by federal officials.
There have been 20,000 violations of the federal clean water act in three mines in just two years.
Those [are] the accusations of environmental activist in eastern Kentucky.
The groups, lead by Robert F. Kennedy jr., say the violations are by companies who practice mountain top removal mining.
They come at the same time that the E.P.A. blocked 11 Kentucky mining permits because of water pollution issues.
The E.P.A’s sanctions could also cause mining permits to become a federal government issue instead of a local one.

Jack Conway has denied flip-flopping on Cap and Trade and mountaintop removal, despite being endorsed by the Sierra Club in 2002 and despite every newspaper in Kentucky reporting in 2009 that he supported Cap and Trade.
