SC Senate Votes in Favor of Early Voting

State senators have signed off on a bill to allow 11 days of early voting before election days in South Carolina.

“Georgia has early voting. North Carolina has had it for 15 years,” said state Sen. John Scott, D-Richland, the bill’s sponsor.

Nineteen other senators co-sponsored the bill.

“This is a way for those in rural areas, those with transportation problems to have time to get to the polls,” Scott said. “This will also help eliminate those long lines at the polls whether you’re a Democrat or Republican.”

The State House is reportedly opposed to approving early voting and I honestly don’t know why.  I don’t see what the big deal is.  If anything, I think it would help cut down on alleged voter fraud.  Multiple opportunities to be able to vote leading up to an election should whittle down the number of absentee ballots being sent in, meaning more people are voting in person and we can verify that they are who they say they are.  Am I wrong?
