Obama Should Not Expect to See Much of a Bounce, Unless…

|| No matter how hard he studies the numbers, polling does not look good for Obama. ||

Momentum.

Lefty pundits have worked themselves into some kind of euphoric frenzy.  Their guy, the Nobel Prize winning, anti-war activist President Barack Hussein Obama has killed America’s most wanted, Osama Bin Laden, and now there’s no telling how just high the President’s poll numbers are going to go.

But as Lee Corso would say, not so fast my friend.

Although there is no event in our country’s history comparable to the eradication of Bin Laden, history tells that any bump in Obama’s poll should be small and somewhat fleetingAs a general rule, voters vote their pocketbooks.  So as long as gas prices and jobless numbers are high, Obama is bound to be dragged back down in the polls.

Unless Obama can convert his temporary goodwill into another quick victory.

Last night was one of those moments,” Obama said. “So tonight, it is my fervent hope that we can harness some of that unity, some of that pride, to confront many challenges that we still face.”

By the end of the week, Obama should see the Bin Laden bounce in his polling numbers.  If he could convert the political high of said polling bounce into a debt ceiling victory, the President might just have the momentum he needs to pass the high end tax increase he has long desired.

The next thing you know Barack Obama is on a political roll.

Sure, stringing together a few political victories will not lower the price of gas, or create any good paying American jobs, but it might create the perception that Obama is winning.  Rather than being steeped in failure, a hint of an aura of invincibility may suddenly begin to surround the Obama White House.

Combine the illusion of presidentiality with the lack of enthusiasm surrounding the Republican presidential candidates and Barack Obama might just ride Osama Bin Laden’s corpse all the way to re-election in 2012.
