Packed Loftis fundraiser with Mitt Romney

The crowd at the Mills House in Charleston was backed out the door for a fundraiser for State Treasurer Curtis Loftis and the Blogland had about thirty minutes’ free time this evening to drop in and say hello to Loftis and the many fine folks in attendance.

The headliner for the occasion was GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who had spent the day campaigning with Loftis in the Lowcountry. Like many Loftis events, they’re at least as well known for having fun as they are raising funds. This event was a great success at both.

Not to be left out of the occasion was the Ron Paul fan club, who were out front protesting Romney. We appreciate how they lined up for a photo when the camera came out even though they probably had no idea they’d end up getting their fifteen seconds (and three sentences) of fame in the Blogland. They all looked alike with their Mitt Romney masks.

The hospitality of Loftis, who has proven himself to be one of the state’s friendliest and most upbeat Constitutional officers, was appreciated, along with many of the guests who took time to say hello and talk about blogging, state politics and Thad Viers.

A successful series of these events in recent months makes it clear that Loftis isn’t taking re-election for granted in 2014.
