“Occupier” Facing Felonious Assault Charges

A Charlotte man is facing felony assault charges after he threw a glass bottle that injured an officer’s eye during a raid at an Occupy D.C. encampment, according to reports.

Records show the suspect, Jeremiah Daniel DeSousa, 29, is a convicted felon in North Carolina who has absconded from probation here.

On Feb. 4, U.S. Park Police swept through the Occupy encampment in Washington, D.C.’s McPherson Square, just a few blocks north of the White House, to enforce no-camping rules there and remove tents and bedding, according to the Washington Post.

Eleven people were arrested that day at the encampment, including another man who was charged with assault after he was accused of throwing a bamboo stick at an officer, the Post reports.

Isn’t it funny how the tea party participants are the ones always getting branded as extremists by the left and yet I can’t think of a single individual who has been arrested by the police during the hundreds of tea party protests that have gone on across the country since 2009.  Compare that to the Occupy Wall Street crowd who have seen hundreds of their members incarcerated, engaging in countless clashes with police, as well as committing other acts of vandalism and violence.

According to the Observer, this DeSousa has been in prison twice already for larceny and forgery and yet after smashing a glass bottle into the eye of a police officer he has been let out of jail and released to a halfway house.  This guy has clearly demonstrated that he cannot be trusted to live in civilized society so why is our injustice system not treating this man like the criminal he is?  This guy should be locked away for a long time.
