Guess the Number 2 Movie out this Week

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Everyone knows The Hunger Games is making headlines for the week it has had in the theaters.  I’ll be the first to admit, and I do so quite proudly, I have absolutely no idea what the movie is about, I don’t know anyone in the movie, and I have never even seen a preview for the movie.  I had a co-worker tell me something about people hunting each other in the woods and my interest peaked until I saw a news article about the people sitting in line, waiting for the midnight premiere.  The photo was reminiscent of a high school dance gone emo.  I guess I didn’t realize The Hunger Games was an extension of the Twilight series.

So if you had to guess what the movie with the second highest per screen average was this past weekend, what would you guess?  21 Jumpstreet? Wrath of the Titans?  Well, unless you guessed October Baby, you would be wrong.

If you are like me, there is a pretty good chance you have never heard of October Baby.  That is until my wife told me about it and I received an email about it from the American Family Association.

So why haven’t you heard about the movie, and why isn’t it in theaters near you?  October Baby dares to take on typical Hollywood pro-choice stance.

“October Baby” follows the emotional journey
of a young woman who learns that she was almost aborted, but at the
last minute was instead given up for adoption. The film almost didn’t
see the light of day.

“This film couldn’t find a home, no studio
wanted to touch it. It was considered too controversial,” Erwin
continued. “There was a real moment of despair at one point, the film
wasn’t finished and nobody would take a look at it. But every time we
screened it, it attracted such intense emotional reactions. So we had to
raise the money ourselves, and the release process took much longer
than we wanted.”

While the movie really only took in $2 million, it’s per theater average was second only to The Hunger Games, due to the fact many theaters refused to show the movie.

TBA will be praying more theaters see an opportunity, even if it is simply a financial decision, and will decide to show the film.  The more people this message can get out to, the better,  A powerful story like the one in the movie is sure to change the views of many who watch it.  After all, letting the facts about abortion get out is truly what Hollywood and these theaters are concerned about.
