Messing with the Kincannons

There was plenty of buzz at today’s SCGOP convention about an ongoing political war of wills taking place both in Greenville County and at the convention, being waged by GOP attorney Todd Kincannon and his mother, Roxie Kincannon, who serves in the Greenville County Disabilities Board.

When she was appointed to the board several years ago, the agency was running at a deficit. Mamma Kincannon was instrumental in leading efforts to rein in and re-prioritize spending, balancing the agency’s budget, getting spending under control and – as can be expected for a fiscal reformer – angering several Greenville County politicos whose turf she infringed upon. Their response: begin plotting to have her removed from the board.

Both Kincannons were at the convention today, recruiting support for an effort to keep her on the board. With Todd’s reputation as an aggressive attorney and parliamentarian extraordinaire in GOP circles, dealing with election and government issues, a small problem could turn into a major fight quickly.

We’ve been informed some real bombshells will hit the streets to help ensure she remains there. For a situation like this, staying tuned is a must, so we invite you to do just that. Or call some members of Greenville County Council to get their take on why a fiscal conservative would be considered a problem.
