Chuck Todd Challenges Robert Gibbs on Ryan Plan Falsehood
Former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs appeared on Chuck Todd’s MSNBC program The Daily Rundown this morning and got caught telling a lie about Paul Ryan’s medicare program. The Obama spin-master said that the Ryan plan would hurt his 83 year old lung cancer surviving father. Todd corrected Gibbs by pointing out that the Ryan plan would not affect current seniors,
Todd: Your father is not going to get that because they’re not going to do anything to him.”
Gibbs: (looking a bit stunned at being challenged with the truth) “I wouldn’t trust Republicans on Medicare as far as I can throw them… the plan would effectively “end Medicare as we know it.
Todd: “Does the President owe us a plan, then?”
Gibbs: “Let’s be clear,that the President has taken important steps to not only make the Medicare benefit stronger, again, by adding things like preventive health care and we’ve extended the life of the health care
