The Dems Call For “GUN” Control

The draft language of the Democrats’ 2012 platform – set for a final vote this week in Charlotte – argues that current safeguards protecting the public against gun violence are insufficient and urges “an honest and open conversation about firearms.”

The document also calls for “reasonable regulation” governing guns, including laws banning assault weapons and requiring all gun sellers – not just licensed dealers – to perform background checks on potential buyers.

But – while the Republicans’ 2012 platform addresses such hot-button topics as concealed carry, stand-your-ground laws, high-capacity clips and the reporting of bulk long-arm sales – the Democrats’ policy statement makes no mention of those thorny issues.  Mark Glaze, director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a gun-reform group founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, said the Democrats are being far too cautious.

“The platforms are largely irrelevant, except as evidence of how confident a party feels on a topic, and the Democratic language on guns is a terrific example of how completely they blow this issue,” Glaze said Friday in an email.  Glaze said the Republican platform endorses policies that “the public, including gun owners, strongly oppose” – a reference to recent polls showing broad support for certain guns reforms. 

“But at least they take a stand,” he said of the GOP. “The Democrats mumble some gauzy generalities.  “That’s irresponsible, but it also happens to be rotten politics,” he added. “It turns off their base, and it will not persuade one single Obama hater to sit this one out.”

Most of the gun language in the Democrats’ draft platform mirrors what was in the 2008 document, but the call for an “open conversation” about reform – something that’s been all but absent for years on Capitol Hill – is a new addition.  The provision marks a subtle shift in messaging for Democratic leaders who have been reluctant to press for any gun reforms – or even hold hearings on them – for fear of a political backlash.

But the issue has been tough to ignore this Congress in the face of a long series of headline-grabbing shooting sprees stretching back to the very first days of the 112th, when then-Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.) was critically injured during a rampage that killed six people in her district. Indeed, the draft platform’s call for a public debate on guns is pulled almost directly from President Obama’s reaction to the Giffords shooting.

“Clearly, there’s more we can do to prevent gun violence,” Obama wrote in a March 2011 op-ed in the Arizona Daily Star. “But I want this to at least be the beginning of a new discussion on how we can keep America safe for all our people.”

Democrats, in recent years, haven’t always been open to such a public airing. Indeed, when the gun-reforming Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) arrived on Capitol Hill in 2009 and started pushing for a gun hearing from the Democratic leaders who then controlled the House, they turned him down. 

“I never thought the issue would get to this point where we can’t even have a conversation,” Quigley lamented last month.

Perhaps with that in mind, even those gun-reform advocates supportive of the DemocratDem platform calls for gun reforms, but advocates pan language as timids’ 2012 platform are approaching with a good deal of caution.

With our country drowning in debt,  and their are no jobs in the near future apparently and Obama continues to ship jobs to China.    “Gun Control.”  We all know that this has been one of Obama’s main objectives, when he was elected. Obama wants to DISARM  Americans, period, there is no doubt about it.   So my good friends, please take note of what the Obama administration is doing.

Again I will tell you, “Watch What Obama Does, Not What He Says!

I do not understand how anyone in their right mind can support a president who has nothing to show for his first term.  Other than doubling the national debt and sending our jobs to China; with the latest being General Motors, who is expanding it’s business in China. Lets take a quick look at GM in  China.

Is General Motors Now China Motors? .

In less than 24 hours, Vince Wade’s YouTube video of General Motor’s CEO Dan Akerson’s (pictured next to GM’s logo) speech touting the car company’s increasing investment in China has gone viral, with nearly 500,000 views. Noting that GM — derisively called Government Motors by some – received nearly $50 billion of bailout funds in 2009, Wade asked: “Did we bail out General Motors to have it become China Motors?”

According to Akerson, GM now:

• Makes almost 70 percent of its vehicles outside the US
• Has more than 2,700 dealerships in China
• Operates 11 assembly plants in China
• Has 11 joint ventures in China with two Chinese government-controlled companies
• Regards these joint ventures “as 11 keys to success.”

Akerson added:

Our commitment to working in China, with China, for China, remains strong and focused on the future.

We’re now building out the advanced technology center which will bring our research and development that is centered largely in the United States…we’re going to diversify that more into China because we think this market is so critically important to the success of our company…

China is the crown jewel in the GM universe.  Why is the United States not the crown jewel?

As evidence that GM is willing to do business with the Chinese government as long as it’s profitable, Wade notes the largely unknown purchase of GM’s Saginaw Steering Gear facility, now known as Nexteer, for half a billion dollars in 2010, giving the Chinese government ownership of Nexteer’s 22 factories around the world, its six engineering centers, its 14 customer-support centers, along with more than 1,000 patents. Those patents, said Jack Chen, the investment banker at Transworld Capital Group who put the deal together, “dramatically shortens the technology gap between China and the rest of the world.”

GM is aggressively marketing its Cadillac to the top Chinese government officials by sponsoring a propaganda film honoring the beginning of the Communist Party’s takeover in China. Wade quoted an observer attending the initial showing of the film who saw a number of brand new Cadillacs parked out in front of the theater and remarked:

My suspicion is that GM in China is marketing this line of luxury vehicles to CCP (Chinese Communist Party) officials. These are powerful men with a lot of disposable income all wrought from taking wealth from the public.

The key activities in the lives of many party officials include finding ways to disgorge these funds: women, gambling, alcohol and luxury cars are central to their lifestyle. And what if Cadillac wanted to become a mainstream part of this club…the vehicle of choice for the underworld mob that runs China?

Well, a good way to start would probably be to publicly sponsor a movie about the “great achievements” of the founding of the party, wouldn’t it? Source

With all the issues that face our country, we have an administration that has, in 3.5 years smothered our country with dept, almost $16 trillion dollars worth. Obama refused keystone, he has basically emasculated our military to the point that leaves the United States vulnerable to attack with ease.  Obama has also refused to secure the borders. Obama via the executive order allowed over 15 million illegal aliens to remain in the United States.

This action also created a firestorm of illegal aliens who were (are) beating a trail to the United States in efforts to cash in on the amnesty that Obama ordered.  All Obama was doing is pandering for votes.  With all of these issues the Obama Administration focuses on GUN CONTROL  This action along shows you how smug he is, Obama is of the opinion that he has the election in the bag, and it maybe he does.

This country will be doomed if this man is re-elected.  I pray he that God hears our prayers.
