Brown, Mandel or ??

The debates scheduled in Ohio between Senate candidates Sherrod Brown and Josh Mandel only serves to compliment the sentiment expressed by Independent Voters of America.org. They will each be preaching to their own choirs; members of their parties who will vote for any candidate with an R or D next to their name. What about the rest of Ohio?

Scott Rupert, the only other candidate in the Senate race, has been excluded from participation by the leadership of both the Rs and Ds, the media, Ohio’s NBC affiliates, the AARP of Ohio and several other groups involved in providing the voters of Ohio an opportunity to hear the candidates and make an informed decision through these debates.

Why are they so adamantly opposed to reporting the existence of the third candidate in the first place? His name is seldom, if at all, included in news concerning the U.S. Senate seat race. He is not included on any polls. Why would the Rs and Ds conspire to exclude his participation in the debates? Why would the media support such efforts? Aren’t they suppose to report the facts? I hope the independent voter movement will continue to grow and spark more discussions on these issues.

The fact is, we have a 3rd candidate running for the U.S. Senate. Scott Rupert is a family man and earns his living driving a truck. His candidacy has been certified by the office of the Secretary of State and his name will appear on the ballot in all 88 Ohio counties. The event, with over 200 in attendance, was part of the $10 Million A Minute Tour, led by former US comptroller David Walker, and it focused on America’s number one problem: the runaway national debt.

Nearly 1 million absentee voters will, or have, received their paper ballots for the 2012 election in Ohio. I hope, if you are one of those people, you will take the time to read more about Scott Rupert for yourself. Check out the other candidates in the other races as well.
