Sustainable Development in our area. I wonder if they are aware of why they are doing it, if they look forward to seeing it to fruition or if they are so drunk on power that they just don’t care; it helps them look good to the party, right?
“The Northeast Ohio Area Wide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) is the METROPOLITAN planning organization for CUYAHOGA, GEAUGA, LAKE, LORAIN and MEDINA COUNTIES in Ohio. NOACA lists Cleveland (Agenda 21 City) and Lorain/Elyria as Metropolitan areas. The 5 county area has 165 government entities. As the region’s metropolitan planning organization, they determine how federal transportation and state dollars are spent in the region. Each year, NOACA receives approximately $49-$55 million in federal and state funds. In addition, NOACA carries out certain AIR and WATER quality planning (EPA) and outreach activities. This year NOACA received $4.5 million federal tax dollars to aid in establishing Sustainable Communities (AGENDA 21). NOACA’s mission statement continually talks about regional planning and doing what’s best for the region, a Regional Prosperity Initiative goal, which is reinvesting in and rebuilding ”core” cities where infra structure already exists, I.E. Cleveland.

NOACA also represents the five counties in the Ohio Association of Regional Councils (OARC)an organization covering the entire State of Ohio. It has 23 organizations similar to NOACA. OARC will be covered later in the series.” Feel free to contact this writer at [email protected] for more info!
