Politician moves to make ‘vulgar Photoshopping’ illegal

According to an article by Chris Matyszczyk at CNET: “A state lawmaker in Georgia is so perturbed that someone used Photoshop to put his head on a porn star’s body that he now wants any kind of lewd Photoshopping to be banned. ‘No one has a right to make fun of anyone,’ he says.”

The politician pushing for the law that he says will make the “problem” of “vulgar Photoshopping” go away is Rep. Earnest Smith. As proof of this national problem requiring a federal law as a fix, he has pointed to an edited picture of his own head on a pornstar’s body.

Yes, so-called “public servants” are that self-serving. And in some cases that thin-skinned.

When Fox News asked Andre Walker, who’s blog (NSFW) is the source of the offending image, Walker pointed out: “The first Amendment to the Constitution of the United States protects all forms of speech, not just spoken word.”

Rep. Smith responded to Fox News: “No one has a right to make fun of anyone. It’s not a First Amendment right.” (Translation: “Citizens don’t have the right to make fun of members of the political class.”)

When Fox asked for details of Rep. Smith’s proposed legislation, he replied: “I don’t have to tell you anything.” (Translation: “I’m Joe-SOMEBODY. You’re just a pissant. I don’t explain myself to the likes of you.”)

Pressed further, Rep. Smith insisted this proposed law isn’t about him. “This is about being vulgar. We’re becoming a nation of vulgar people.” (Translation: “How dare somebody mock me. ME!”)
