There are 40,000 Christian Religions in the World
There are over 40,000 Christian Religions in the world. Which one do you belong to?
I have listened to numerous arguments about religion over my years and frankly, I am just a little weary about all the confusion. I thought I would try to clear up just a little bit of the confusion by adding some of my personal experiences to the pot. No, I am not going to preach a sermon nor am I going to support any one religion. I am just making rhetoric and most of you will call it just that. However, my rhetoric comes from 76 years of experience of considerable studies in theology.
Christianity is not just a group of religious nut cases getting together and praising the Lord. There are specific ideologies supporting Christian beliefs. However, I do not believe any god would want 40,000 different denominations with dissimilar beliefs all claiming they belong to that one god. If you are a Christian and you believe you have found the one true Christian faith then you might find this article interesting.
Jesus’ name was not Jesus–it was Joshua. Contrary to all the stories you heard about his childhood, there is no evidence anywhere to support those stories. There is a common belief that Peter was martyred in Rome but again there is no actual evidence that Peter was ever in Rome. There is little to no evidence that he ever visited Rome, yet we all were told that not only was he the first pope of the Roman Church that he lived and died there.
He was a pillar of a man and the people looked up to him for leadership but all the Apostles had followers and all the apostles did not agree with one another about Jesus. Our religious leaders can claim Peter the Bishop of Rome but that does not make it so. The Greek Orthodox Church moved away from the Roman church because the Roman church demanded they give credit to Peter as the first pope of the church and they demanded the Orthodox church embrace the idea that there is a succession of popes beginning with Peter. The Orthodox church refused those beliefs as heretical and went their own way. Actually, Peter could neither read nor write. Anything credited to Peter as the author had to be dictated and none of those epistles came to public view until the Roman church decided on them until somewhere around 383 ad.
Little if anything was accomplished by the Roman church until more than 300 years after the death of Christ. Even our modern Bible did not become ratified as godly scriptures until 393 ad at the Synod of Hippo. Even after the Synod of Hippo a fully dogmatic statement of the biblical canon did not exist until 1546 at the Council of Trent.
Generally, there was a belief of sorts for over 160 years that was a common belief among Christians but that belief was never established as a canon unto 1546 and by that time the Roman church was so corrupt that even those of the priesthood did not believe it.
So what is a true Christian? Is a true Christian bound up by laws and dogmas, holy days of obligation, belief in canonization or believing in some man who says he takes the place of Jesus on earth? Is a true Christian an individual who believes he must follow the ten commandments?
If there is anyone out there who wants to know what a true Christian is then after that person searches his or her heart for the truth, then respond to this post and I will tell you in two sentences what a true Christian believes. Anything beyond what Jesus said is nonsense.
