I don’t know that I’ve ever heard Governor Palin voice such concern about where President Obama is taking this country without simultaneously sharing a word of hope. In today’s Facebook post, however, her feelings that we have been “screwed” by this administration hang heavy in the air.
She writes:
We’re in for a helluva’ ride, America. Obama just named Susan Rice as his National Security Adviser and nominated Samantha Power to replace Rice as our U.N. ambassador. Samantha Power is married to Cass Sunstein, the very, very strange Obama pick for an early “czar” position who wowed us with his numerous bizarre claims including the wacko belief that animals should have the right to sue in court, that hunting should be banned as genocide, and that pet ownership is akin to “slavery.” But Mrs. Cass Sunstein’s character judgment in choosing her life partner is the least of America’s worries. Information about Obama’s new picks will be revealed in coming days. Pay attention to who they are; what they stand for; and what their records, associations, and statements reveal about them and their intentions. Especially consider Obama’s chosen ones as evidence of his skewed thinking as he “fundamentally transforms” our great nation.

And putting something on the line might mean alienating a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import,’ she added laughing, clearly referring to American Jews and suggesting they were a great obstacle to moving toward peace between Israelis and Palestinians.”

The failure to achieve peace in the Middle East is not because wealthy American Jews have somehow manipulated America’s leaders into thwarting peace, but rather because Palestinian leaders have consistently rejected generous Israeli peace offers for a state of their own. In fact, the wealthy American Jews that Power haughtily dismisses in the interview as obstacles to peace are very often staunch advocates of a two state solution. On another note, Power also once compared actions abroad to those of Nazi Germany. Well, excuse me, but my pets are far happier living in my home than they would be on the street, or wherever that jerk thinks they ‘should’ be. They get warm beds to sleep in, lot’s of treats, good food (I spend a pretty penny on quality food for both my dogs and cats), they get a lot of cuddles and pettings and hugs, and they are safe. I am a supporter of animal welfare and anti-cruelty, but I hate these PETA types who say that our pets are like slaves and it’s cruel to keep them in our homes. There is no way you can convince me that my pets are better off out in the streets than in my home. Just try to take my pets, Cass Sunstein!!!
While I agree that the American Jews (of which I’m one) and the pro-Israeli lobby (of which, I’m not one) is the biggest obstacle to peace between Israelis and Palestinians (also America and the world), but I do not Cass Sustein one bit. This is the guy who advocates the banning of all information that does not come from the “official channels”. He was taking aim at conspiracy theorists, whistle-blowers, investigative journalists (which now seem to be extinct) and anyone who doesn’t buy the government’s version of events. I certainly don’t like Sarah Palin either (though admittedly, she does talk a good game). Along with Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin helped hijack the tea-party movement and steer it away from a bi-partisan populist movement to end corruption in Washington, towards the typical left-right fair of the two party paradigm. This act in itself, helped the Tea Party lose just about all effective credibility, as it ushered the anger to be excused through politics as usual in the eyes of America. Before Palin laid claim to the Tea Party, this movement was a force to be reckoned with as it was gaining wide popularity and threatened the very foundation of the establishment. The elite were literally shaking in their over-zealous nanny boots. Then come along two talking heads, who up until that point, had been chastising the Tea Party movement and demonstrating actions that were counter to just about everything that it originally stood for. In fact, Beck himself called it a terrorist movement and constantly lied to his viewers in order to turn them away from it in the critical ’07 political primary season. Palin on the other hand, demonstrated through executive position as Alaska Governor that liberty and freedom was the last thing that she stood for. Yet, low and behold, both of these twerps come to the rescue of the establishment after the Bilderberg meeting and effectively gave a cure for the establishment to stay seated firmly on the gravy train. This and other things (many other things) have lead me to believe that all of this grandstanding “infighting” is nothing more than a hoax designed to make you think that all of these people are really in opposition to each other. We all know that the pro-Israeli lobby represents more than just a rich source of income for potential politicians. This article is ridiculous.

Did John McCain shoot himself in the foot with his VP choice? Big time. He was losing, and desperate, as the private polls his campaign had been taking revealed the gap between he and Obama to be far larger than the public polls reveal. Obama has energized voters, so that many young people and people of color have registered to vote. The count of new Democratic voters far outnumber new Republican voters, by a factor greater than 4 to 1. These new voters are not included in the polls of likely voters – those who voted in the past two presidential elections. Then there is the enthusiasm gap, where Democrats are more likely to make it to the polls in November. Given that the arguments the McCain camp were making were not making any headway against Obama, they were desperate for a game changer. Seeing the significant number of disgruntled Hillary fans making claims they would vote for McCain, this seemed like the largest voter block that could potentially be swung to McCain. So what is wrong with this choice?
First is that he has offended Hillary’s strongest block – older women who had been discriminated against during their lifetime – and treated them like second class citizens. Standard fare, after not being given equal pay and opportunity for equal work, is being thrown over for a younger woman. McCain has already been branded for this tendency by his history of running out on his first wife, a former beauty queen who was crippled in a car accident. McCain then took up with Cindy, an unspoiled beauty. Now with the VP choice he has selected another beauty queen far younger than McCain. Regardless of all arguments, the element of being dismissive of women’s true qualifications for office and chosing women only for their beauty, is obvious. This is intuitively obvious to the older women voters McCain hoped to attract. Standing next to McCain, Palin seemed like his mistress, a reminder of McCain’s age and that his attitudes toward woman are from a different era. Obama has a wife who is a strong woman, competent and even earning more money than he at her day job. McCain now stands in contrast to Obama on this issue, and is losing on this issue to an extent not yet evident in the polls.
Second, McCain has gone beyond his tendency to surround himself with lobbyists and to be susceptible to money interests and plunged himself into a new and very fresh scandal – abuse of power. The Keating 5 scandal is in McCain’s past, wherein he went to bat for Keating during the savings and loan crisis, trying to get regulators to go easy on his friend Keating. This is far enough in the past to be put aside by most voters, but what does his choice of Palin as VP say about his judgment and tendencies? She is embroiled in a controversy, an investigation, that could result in impeachment proceedings against her in Alaska. Without question she wanted to fire her former brother-in-law from his job as a state trooper and insisted, in person and through intermediaries, that this be done. This in and of itself would be considered a lightweight scandal in scandal-prone Alaska, but when she fired the highly competent head of the Department of Public Safety simply because he refused to do her bidding she crossed the line.
