Welcome to issue #3 of The Morning Roundup

On Tuesday we shared a story about an Oregon school district that allowed teachers to carry concealed weapons. A story yesterday on The Daily Caller mentioned a Colorado school district that does the same.

Not really an education story, but one for any of the history teachers out there. TheBlaze reported on archaeologists who brought up cannons from Blackbeard’s ship that was sunk off the coast of North Carolina in the early 1700s

Gretchen Logue of Missouri Education Watchdog has a lovely story about New York curriculum material that asks students to figure out what their budget might look like…are you ready for it…if they were hooked on heroin. Something, I’m sure, you all want your teen figuring out.

Neal McCluskey from Cato has yet another report on education EXPERTS who are opposed to the Common Core.

“I have successfully shown that I was the best slave. … Our education system is based on outcomes; students must meet this outcome or they are viewed as failing.” Yeah…a senior at Norristown High School in Pennsylvania said that at a school board meeting. Interesting blog post by Steve Sailer on David Coleman, super-arrogant “intellectual” and author of the Common Core State Standards. Sailer is definitely not a conservatives, he admires Barack Obama’s writing for its artistry (LOL!!!), but his criticisms of  the Core and David Coleman are interesting and valid.

Townhall.com has an article on the Department of Justice’s continued war on school vouchers. Ah, yes, and we conservatives are the ones that hate the poor. Whatever…
