Mark Shea brings us to this revealing, and redemptive, interview of Audrey Assad by Matt Fradd:
Matt: Audrey, on a scale from 1 to stepping on lego barefoot, how much does it hurt you when you hear someone say, “girls don’t struggle with porn. Porn is a guy’s issue.”
Audrey: It’s certainly a little stab to my heart when I overhear something like that, especially when it’s spoken from a platform. Whenever I heard this as a teenager it isolated me even more in my battle against pornography addiction, because it reinforced my assumption that I should never tell anyone about it.
I thought that I was the only woman in the world going through it—and this was Satan’s greatest foothold in my heart and mind while I was in bondage to pornography.
As long as I thought I couldn’t tell anyone, it was virtually impossible for me to experience deliverance.
Hearing things like this from the platform of ministry only reinforced the deception.
Matt: I know you’ve had the opportunity to share your story of porn addiction and recovery with young women all over the country. What’s their reaction?
Audrey: It’s pretty incredible how many girls will share the truth about their addictions with you if you just speak up about yours.
A few years back I spoke at a conference for high-school students and shared (briefly) my testimony at a girls’ session; and then for the rest of the week girl after girl pulled me aside to share that she was battling pornography addiction.
I probably talked to fifty girls. And their youth leaders were pulling me aside as well–some to share their own struggles and some telling me about their uncertainty about what to do with the students who had suddenly been confessing to them. One told me that a girl in her group shared that she’d been compulsively viewing pornography since the age of eight.
It’s a lot more common than anyone would like to believe, and the sooner we learn how to address it, the sooner more and more young women can find freedom in community.

First off there is no Satan. Stop blaming real human problems on an imaginary being. You can’t solve problems or fix anything when fighting an imaginary being.

I find it weird anyone is really into porn, the girls are faking or on some serious sex enhancement drugs. And seriously most of what the men do, when done in real life is not so pleasing. Porn is a poweful tool in the t.p.t.b. toolbox . That’s why they created it and forced it into the mainstream .It s inpact is huge and destructive on society just as it was intended to be . youcan pretend this isn’t the case , because you enjoy it too. Proof it is “mainstram” and in the very culture fabric of our society . It is addictive and a direct result of people not being able to perform any longer outside it , and the mass rise of ” sex addicts “into society . Like any drug one needs more and more to feel the same effect . In ever more increasing degrading acts and increasing violence or even illegal subject matters . And it has become so mainstream with so many addicted , they see it as “normal” and benign perfectly acceptable and welcomed . I think too much porn affects your spelling, also MSM is introducing it too early and some shows designated as kid friendly also appear to be introducing it too early,

The biggest growth area in porn is from amateurs with web-cams who are destroying the for-profit porn industry. You might say it’s not so much porn as exhibitionism, but some of the stuff I’ve seen is quite sweet.
There’s also been a rise in female porn-producers, and consequently they’ll be catering for female tastes in porn. I rather think that would be a bit more tasteful than male-centred porn although there’s extremes in everything.
But like Melissa says “Sex is different when it’s real…” Really good sex is about naked souls rather than naked bodies, and that’s why organised religions hate it so much. If you love someone and you find in them a spiritual release, then you’re treading on their domain. They don’t like that, so you get labelled “infested with demons.”

I can speak from my own experience that porn was destructive to my family, my marriage, and my soul. At one time, I would have been in the same league as many of the responders here. I cast out my porn demon over a year ago with the help of The Lord my God, and haven’t looked back. Its miraculous how much more clearly we see when our minds aren’t clouded with the lies of the evil one.
The world has convinced us that we are a primitive animal and need to feed our primal urges. The world has told us it is unhealthy to deny yourself a frequent sexual release. The fact is that the lack of sex is not harmful to your body at all. Those of us who choose to live life as though we were little more than dogs, have bought into the whole primal instinct garbage. We are not, nor were we ever, animals. We were made in God’s image to glorify God and claim our heavenly inheritance, not claim an inheritance from the animal kingdom.
Rise above the vile temptations of the world. Turn your mind away from the gutter. Become a better husband or wife. Become a better person. Be someone your child would be proud of. There is so much more to life. Read the Word of God, speak with The Lord often, and find a strength and peace you never knew.
