GOP Consultant Brian Walsh’s Very, Very Unhappy New Year

For the record, I don’t personally know GOP consultant Brian Walsh and he’s probably a decent human being. Unfortunately he popped up on my radar as a particularly hypocritical establishment type who then got up in my face once on Twitter, thereby putting a target on his back. That’s some effective communicatin‘ ya do there, Bri ol’ buddy!

His original crime was calling out conservative consultants for daring to make money the same way he does, but by working for …. conservatives. In his view, establishment types are entitled to make a living, but conservatives, not so much.

Worse, it then came to light that he was actually on the NRSC payroll while working as a columnist: Conflicts of Interest: U.S. News columnist Brian Walsh on the NRSC payroll. So much for political professional standards, ethics and purity, not to mention judgment and honesty.

Not long after that he was hired by troubled and, now, perhaps in trouble GOP lawmaker Trey Radel. However, that gig didn’t last too long as Brian’s now been let go.

Politico on Radel: The Florida GOP lawmaker who was busted for cocaine possession has hired a top Washington ethics lawyer and parted ways with his crisis communications team. As he prepares to return to his day job, Radel has let go veteran Republican communicators Ron Bonjean and Brian Walsh. Bonjean and Walsh were hired by Radel after POLITICO reported that he faced cocaine-related charges, a first for any member of Congress.

And now, as if that’s not a bad enough start for a new year, there’s this – for which I called him out at the time. Yes, of all the subjects Brian Walsh could have weighed in on, he had to speak up for a now once again humiliated public toe sucker like Eliot Spitzer and his apparently topless in front of children toe-sucked paramour, Lis Smith. Heckuva job, Brian and great judgment, too. If I might paraphrase a line from Animal House – Coked up, toe sucking and stupid in public is no way to go through life, son. ; ) Here’s to a 2014 for you that’s just a little bit better than its start!!
