Global Warming Has Lost ‘The Debate’

Amid the myriad of statements and proposals, both true and untrue, in the president’s State of the Union address, there was once again a claim that is demonstrably false. However, concerning this particular statement, the President is not alone in promoting a falsehood. He is also not alone in having repeated this claim many times over a many years. He is joined by a number of other prominent people and organizations, the most important being the United Nations.

The President claimed in his SOTU that “the debate is over. Climate change is a fact.” To be clear, Obama was not simply speaking about a changing climate as a natural phenomenon. When he says “climate change,” what he means is a dangerous change in temperature caused by human action. When he claims that “the debate is over,” he is not quite accurate. First off, there is no real “debate” acknowledged by those who claim that man-made climate change is occurring because no other opinion is given any credence. Dissenters are scorned as being akin to those who believe the earth is flat. There can be no actual debate if one side just tries to shout down the facts from the other side. Global warming enthusiasts have so far been shouting loudly, yet the facts tell a different story.

There is a line from a recent film which states the problem well. “Numbers do not lie. Poetry, politics, promises, these are lies…” The dilemma for those scientists who promote the fallacy of global warming (under whatever rubric they wish to place it), is that the numbers do not lie. The actual data is there, lately just released as recorded temperatures both in the US and worldwide. They show that what is now known as “climate change” and was formerly known as “global warming” is rather a fairy tale than a fact. Here is an excerpt from one recent article concerning what is actually happening as compared to the predictions of global warming enthusiasts.

Note how the temperature has failed to rise since 2005, notwithstanding that the CO2 concentration has risen quite rapidly. The usual suspects like to display what they call an “escalator graph” with many of Santer’s “hiatus periods” of 10-12 years without any global warming, but an overall rising trend nonetheless. However, previous periods free of global warming did not occur while Man was putting more CO2 in the air anything like as rapidly as he is today. So Mr. President, what has happened here? It is really a simple analysis given the actual numbers, and, as noted above, “numbers do not lie.” The actual data say not only did the temperatures not rise, the so-called man-made “cause”, excessive CO2 emissions, had no effect at all upon the global temperatures! The vaunted computer models are simply incorrect. An honest person, one not under the spell of various numbers of scientists whose motivations are obviously federal dollars continuing to be thrown their way, would admit their error and act accordingly. It seems the case for man caused global warming, or ‘climate change’ is falling apart, according to both measured temperatures and the growing numbers of those in the scientific community. The numbers tell us that the debate is indeed over and the promoters of global warming have lost. The only thing left to settle is if the liberal sycophants in the global warming crowd will admit their errors and move into reality, or will they continue to hang onto failed predictions and computer models and simple denial? I can almost see the response by the ‘climate change’ establishment. It looks very much like a painting of three primates with one covering his eyes, one his ears and the third covering his mouth.
