Richard Dreyfuss Awakening? Or Not?

After Richard Dreyfuss spent some time with Mike Huckabee on Fox News a couple days ago, I got a call from my good friend, Alex Ferguson.  Mr. Ferguson sits behind the microphone with me on Constitution Radio on KCAA AM1050 on Saturdays, and knows I don’t watch much television, except for baseball and football.  I am usually ignorant of what is going on on Fox News.  Contrary to popular liberal left opinion, I don’t watch Fox News 24/7.  In fact, most of what I know about the world is either from Internet feeds, or talking to people directly involved.  I know a few insiders.

As for Alex, regarding Richard Dreyfuss, he was shocked.  He was stunned.  ”Dreyfuss,” he said, “Sounded like us, wanting to defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  The things he was saying sounded like the things we say.  I think the failures and the power grab of Obama has made him change sides.”

I quipped, “Well, before Obama, the person that has turned more people into republicans in history from the dark side was Jimmy Carter. . . because of his failures.”

The Millennials are running from Obama, realizing that the concept of big government is not in their best interest.  Freedoms are at risk, and the promised utopia is nothing more than a grab for control by the government, and a call for a mediocre life for those that follow the Pied Piper.  If the younger folks are running for the hills from the democrats, why not Hollywood actors?

I don’t watch many movies, either.  I’d prefer not to give my money to an industry so steeped in leftist ideology, and pagan cult-like crap (from Gaia to the goddess of fertility).  Richard Dreyfuss, or at least the Hollywood actor that I remember, has always been a raging liberal, screaming against conservatism, and acting as an echo chamber for each and every false piece of leftist generated propaganda against the GOP floating around out there.  He has always been a leftist tool.  He must have had an epiphany, Alex tried to convince me.  ”Check out his site, The Dreyfuss Initiative.”

I visited the website, and it seemed okay.  I didn’t deeply scrutinize it, but on the surface the endeavor by Dreyfuss seemed to be on the up and up.  Sure, his version of the Constitution is probably still a bit off, I am sure.  He likely has a few ideas that are a little off-center, but then again, with a lifetime of liberal indoctrination, it takes time to figure out the truth.  Even conservatives sometimes get mad on certain aspects of the original intent of the Constitution, because liberal education during their entire lifespan has them convinced of certain false truths that are actually well-crafted lies. . . supported by the unconstitutional concepts of case law, judicial review, and total federal superiority.

Mr. Ferguson urged me to try to get Mr. Dreyfuss on our radio program as a guest.  Perhaps we might teach him a few things about the Constitution, now that his anger with Obama has made him open to such information.

I called a few friends of mine in Hollywood: two directors, and one actor.  I will keep their names quiet.  Being a conservative in the film industry is a harrowing experience as it is.  Exposure can cost these people any new jobs.

The first quipped about how the only thing he has ever liked about Dreyfuss is that he is an Errol Flynn fan.  ”But,” said the independent director, “he was a Bush hater and voted happily for Obama.  Dreyfuss hasn’t had any work in a long time.  Usually, what these guys will do when they are looking for work, is they will latch on to some liberal cause, or spout out some radical leftist puke, and suddenly their stock goes up, and the jobs start appearing.  Anything conservative, however, is a sure way to lose work.  Maybe being upset with Obama is becoming popular in certain circles.  Maybe he’s figuring this will give him the attention he needs to get work in projects that people like Voight are getting.  I am very careful when it comes to believing that he has experienced any transformation.  Dreyfuss has always been a raging liberal.”

The second director, who began as a mainstream director for cable television movies, and became a Christian movies director after he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, had an opinion, but admitted he didn’t know Dreyfuss nearly as well as my friend who is an independent director.  My Christian Director friend said, “Dreyfuss has always been outspoken among the inner voices in Hollywood, outspoken against conservatism and Christianity.  He has always been dangerous.  I question his conversion to the Constitution, and I definitely believe he still has it out for Christians.”

The actor, however, did not come across as negative.  This actor is deep in the dragon’s belly.  If anyone is close to what is going on, this actor is.  He is a name, and definitely a face, you would recognize.  Again, to protect his ability to get work in Hollywood, his name is being kept silent.

The actor said, “Dreyfuss once said that if he didn’t become an actor, he would have become a history teacher.  The guy loves government and politics.  He’s always been fascinated about how the American System works, and has always been a patriot in his own way.  Yes, he verbally attacked Bush often, and has had some nice things to say about guys like Kerry, but I wouldn’t say that Dreyfuss has always been a – how did you say it? – a raging liberal.  There are many actors that are conservative, or at least are not hard left liberal, but they say nothing of it.  To be anything other than practically a communist can cost you work, so there are actually actors that spew leftist talking points that disagree with everything that comes out of their own mouth, just so that they can keep getting work.  There are also conversions all of the time.  Most of the folks in my **** ** *** conservative group (my independent director friend is also a member of the conservative Hollywood secret organization the actor brought up at this point in the conversation) are former democrats who have come to see the light.  We meet in secret, and most of our memberships in the group are not known in the industry.  If the industry was aware that some of these people were a part of this conservative group, they’d never find work.”

There was a pause, and then the actor said, “If he was trying to get work, he would do the opposite.  I don’t know how complete Richard’s understanding of what he is trying to do is, but I am here to tell you there are a number of folks that are upset with Obama in this industry.  Many won’t admit it, but you can tell in their conversations.  I think Dreyfuss’s transformation is real, and he may not have had to move very far to get there.  Remember, the guy loves history.  That said, we must remember that a lot of his old liberal ideas will linger with him, so he will be more like a neo-con than a conservative, at first.  You know, like a hybrid that is a liberal, but is trying to be a little more conservative.  I don’t think he understands the nuts and bolts, but I think Dreyfuss knows that what Obama is doing is despicable, and it is making him gravitate toward the Constitution.”

The only way to know for sure is to talk to him about it.  Richard Dreyfuss needs to be on Constitution Radio.  I asked my friends to put out feelers, see if they can alert him that I want him on my program, and we will see what happens.

In the end, talking to people helps in understanding where Dreyfuss might stand, but we have to pay attention to know for sure.  Peruse his website, and listen to his words.  Has Dreyfuss experienced an epiphany?  Or is it just another Hollywood game?  Granted, Dreyfuss has always shown an interest in history, and civics.  He has made comments about the importance of understanding how our system works, and teaching the children something other than what they are learning.  He has shown us sparks of reason in the past, here and there.  Perhaps Richard Dreyfuss was a low hanging fruit, and he just needed to experience a hard-core leftist in the White House to push him across the line.  Maybe he was closer to moving rightward than we thought.  Maybe his conversion is real, and he has finally put two and two together.

Right now, I think it is too early to tell.
