Coal layoffs loom for Murray Energy

More problems for the coal industry, compliments of Obama’s War on Coal.
Last April coal giant Peabody Energy, headquartered in St. Louis, announced it was filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Now several months later, the country’s largest underground coal mining company, Murray Energy, has given notice to 4,400 employees that as/of September their jobs may cease to exist. Murray is headquartered in St. Clairsville, Ohio; and was the site of a Romney Rally in 2012. Murray has mines in Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Utah, and West Virginia.
The company says the large layoffs are on the horizon because of President Barack Obama’s “ongoing destruction of the United States coal industry” and the increased switch to natural gas to generate electricity.
According to Bill Bissett of the the Kentucky Coal Association, in the last 5 years over 50 coal companies have filed for bankruptcy.
And it’s just not miners that could be affected, but ancillary jobs such as drivers, maintenance, and engineers.
On a related note, after the Romney Rally, there were some anonymous reports that the miners were forced to attend, and without pay.

We will never know for sure who those “anonymous” employees were, possibly not even employees but Obama supporters. However, we do know this.
Obama’s War on Coal is still in full force.
