Nation’s largest public policy women’s organization endorses Francis Rooney for Congress

NAPLES, Fla. – Republican Francis Rooney receives the endorsement from Concerned Women Political Action Committee, part of the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization, in his campaign to represent Southwest Florida in the state’s 19th Congressional District.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) is a nonpartisan organization founded more than thirty years ago and since has grown to be a public policy organization with more than a half-million members with 500 chapters across the country. Concerned Women PAC, established in 2002 by Founder and Chairman Beverly LaHaye, is affiliated with Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee.

Earlier this week, National Right to Life Committee and Florida Right to Life Political Action Committee announced its support for Rooney’s campaign. Other prominent conservative organizations and leaders supporting Rooney’s bid for Congress include the American Conservative Union, a leading conservative national organization; Let Freedom Ring, a conservative public policy organization that promotes a Constitutional government; former Republican presidential candidates Dr. Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina and Gov. Scott Walker; U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton, former U.S. Sen. Connie Mack, former U.S. Rep. Connie Mack IV, Gov. Rick Scott, former Ambassador John Bolton and former U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez.

Francis Rooney is a successful businessman who is running for Congress to bring decades of private sector experience to Washington. Through hard work and perseverance, Rooney built an internationally recognized investment company based in Naples that has created jobs and economic opportunity in Southwest Florida. Rooney also owns Manhattan Construction Company, a fifth-generation family business.

Notable local projects include Fort Myers’ downtown streetscape and utility improvements, construction of the Lee County Jail and Gulf Coast High School in Naples, as well as a number of improvements on Florida Gulf Coast University’s campus such as Biscayne Hall, Alico Arena, Holmes Hall, Academic Building 7 and solar power plant. As a business leader, Rooney has signed both sides of a paycheck, learned how our economy works and how to bring people together to get results.

In addition to his business career, Rooney has also dedicated his time and energy to public and community service. He was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as U.S. Ambassador to The Holy See from 2005 to 2008. He has also served as second vice chair of the board for Naples Community Hospital and currently serves as a trustee of The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress and as a member of the Council of American Ambassadors.

As a lifelong Republican, Rooney has also worked tirelessly to elect like-minded conservatives to office on both the state and national levels.

Rooney is dedicated to advancing higher education initiatives as a board member of the University of Oklahoma’s College of International Studies, the Rooney Center for the Study of American Democracy at the University of Notre Dame and the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation.

A graduate of Georgetown University (A.B. 1975) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D. 1978), Rooney has honorary degrees from the University of Notre Dame (2006) and the University of Dallas (2010). He is a former member of the District of Columbia and Texas Bars, holds a U.S. Coast Guard 100 Ton Masters License (sailing endorsement) and is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
