Sarah Palin – A Reason, A Season, and a Lifetime

The Mighty Oaks Warrior Gala on September 5, 2014 the last time I saw Sarah at an event. I feel it ended a season of my life.

We all go through different seasons of our lives. On August 29, 2008 we were introduced to a lady named Sarah, and for the past eight years, we have walked with her through the changing seasons of her life.

People come into our lives for “a season, a reason or lifetime.” It’s up to each of us to see where Sarah fits in our lives. At some point for me she was there for a season, but she will always be in my heart for a lifetime.

Here is the original A Reason, A Season, and a Lifetime:

Someone sent this to me along time ago; I reread it a few days ago (it is part of the book I wrote on being a caregiver) It says there are three types of people that touch our lives. Every time I read it, I can see the people that have come in and out of my life. If you have a minute read it and thank God for all of those who have passed through your life; be it for a Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime.

1. Reason – this person is there when we need support; it could be physical, emotional or spiritual. They are there for a reason, sometimes an answer to a prayer.
2. Season – while they are there, they give you an unbelievable amount of joy, but are only there for a season.
3. Lifetime – a long-term relationship one that lets you build an emotional foundation, and it is through this foundation you can learn to build and make other relationships, be they for a season or a lifetime.

If you are a caregiver, look at the people around you, it doesn’t matter if they are there for a reason (the Hospice worker, the doctor, the person that lives next door) or the person that is there for a season who gives you joy and teaches you about things you didn’t know or the person who is there for a lifetime (family, real friends) who know that you cannot do it by yourself. Reach out to these people and they will help, as you are caring for the person who is ill. As you start the long journey called healing, reach out to these same people. They will walk it with you.
