As the heading says, Boy This is Sad. Because unlike Republicans, who roll over at the first sign of conflict, or even surrender before conflict begins, even the dang pornographers in CA know how to fight!
CA has a proposition on the ballot this coming election. That proposition, Prop 60 (too bad it wasn’t Prop 69), requires that adult performers wear condoms for all work done in CA, and makes it easier for CA residents to sue pornography producers and distributors for any work done without condoms.
In response to this proposition, some 100 adult performers protested outside the Yes on 60 campaign headquarters. And in a move calculated to hit porn users where it hurts, well-known porn sites are barring California IP address. And those with CA IP addresses trying to access the sites will be greeted by a black screen with the message,
“Access Denied: This is what Californians will see on their favorite porn sites if Proposition 60 passes.”
The adult performers protest is pretty much ineffectual. But blocking porn users is a truly down and dirty example of political war waged with intent to win. It’s too bad the Republican Party did not adhere to its principles and fight for them with at least as much vigor as the pornographers. But they didn’t; so I guess liberty and freedom just don’t measure up against condoms. And that is a shame, because if the damn Republicans had done so, we would not be facing such miserable choices in the coming election.
