The good and bad news is that I remember all of the controversy in school. It started on the radio and some college newspapers. It was picked up in our local stations and was the subject of classroom chatter.
The headline was that Paul McCartney had died in a car accident and buried in a secret grave.
The next part was that The Beatles had clues on their LP covers and even messages hidden in songs like “Strawberry Fields Forever” and that horrible track called ”Revolution # 9″ from The White Album.
Like most crazy things, it got out of control and more crazy. Eventually, LIFE sent reporters to the UK to look for Paul. They found him, recently married to Linda and living in a farm up in Scotland.
And then all of a sudden Paul was alive and well!
