“‘This is war’: Trump drafting lawsuit against NY Times”

Donald Trump’s campaign was drafting a defamation lawsuit against the New York Times late Wednesday night, hours after the news organization published a story in which two women accused the Republican presidential nominee of sexual assault, sources confirmed to the Washington Examiner.”

There are more stories this morning about the NYT publishing false stories about Trump. From Powerline Blog:

“THE NEW YORK TIMES: WORSE THAN YOU THOUGHT”

The Nieman Journalism Lab scores an interview with Dean Baquet, executive editor of the New York Times. If you think the Times has gotten even worse in the last year or two, Baquet is the man to blame.

[…]

BAQUET: “I thought Jim Rutenberg’s column nailed it, about the struggle over how to cover.”

Baquet refers to Rutenberg’s notorious article about how “journalists” need to do everything they can to defeat Donald Trump.

“It’s not just his outrageous stuff…he says things that are just demonstrably false.”

As opposed to…Hillary Clinton? Or Barack Obama?

Also, over at Danger and Play:

“Megan Twohey of the New York Times Caught in a Media Hoax”

Megan Twohey of the New York Times offers you a master class in how to spot a liar. Megan Twohey along with “journalist” Michael Barbaro recently published a hit on Donald Trump. In their article, Crossing the Line: How Donald Trump Behaved with Women in Public, Twohey and Barbaro accused Trump of conduct varying from sexual harassment to “debasing” of women. The problem? The story was a hoax!

In her article, Twohey tells the story of Trump ex-girlfriend Rowanne Brewer Lane.

But the 1990 episode at Mar-a-Lago that Ms. Brewer Lane described was different: a debasing face-to-face encounter between Mr. Trump and a young woman he hardly knew. This is the private treatment of some women by Mr. Trump, the up-close and more intimate encounters.”

Ms. Lane was outraged that Twohey lied about her, and told her own story.”

So it seems that the bosses at the New York Times are doing whatever they can, including lying, to smear Donald Trump. And it looks like the writers there are enthusiastically following their direction. Trump is right to challenge them.
