(Before It's News)

Unless you are a hero in an action movie, you probably don’t relish trying to stop a knife-wielding maniac. But it is quite doable — provided you have a gun:

A man with a permit to carry a firearm detained a Cedar Falls [Iowa] man when he started stabbing people at his apartment building last month, according to authorities.

According to police, Adam Scott Jacobsen had stabbed fellow tenant Jeffrey Miller 24 times and apartment manager Denice Bennett eight times at University Avenue Studios apartments before [her boyfriend] Daniel Williams drew his firearm.

“He pulled the gun and ordered him to lie on the ground,” said Chief Jeff Olson with the Cedar Falls Police Department. He said Jacobsen complied and remained there until police arrived.

Williams arrived with his gun after the stabbing had already begun, unfortunately.

Jacobsen’s motive appears to be psychosis; he told investigators that God wanted him to kill demons. Attempting to disarm him through empathetic chitchat probably would not have been effective.

In a world where liberals have attained their dream of denying law-abiding citizens access to handguns, Jacobsen would still have his knife. But Williams would not have his gun. It would not be a better world.

Jacobsen’s stare explains why we need guns.
