Neptune Woman Charged With Murdering Her Boyfriend

Monique Moore, 24, of Neptune was charged on Monday with 1st degree Murder in the stabbing death of Joseph A. Wilson, 29, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

Neptune Township Police responded to 911 calls reporting a stabbing at 1130 Heck Ave, Building 1 on Sunday night at 11:02.  Upon arriving on the scene at 11:06 officers located the gravely injured Wilson outside of the building. Police and Neptune EMS personnel administered live-saving efforts and transported Wilson to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m. on Monday.

Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office immediately launched a joint investigation into the incident.  Based upon the investigation, it was determined that the victim had been stabbed by Moore during a dispute the couple were having inside her apartment.

In addition to 1st degree Murder, Moore was charged with 3rd degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.  Her bail was set at $1 million with no 10% option by  Judge Honora O’Brien Kilgallen.

If convicted of Murder, Moore faces a minimum sentence of 30 years in a state prison during which time she would be ineligible for parole, and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, subject to the “No Early Release Act,” and must serve 85% of any sentence imposed in excess of 30 years prior to becoming eligible for parole.  If convicted of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Moore faces three to five years imprisonment.
