Who Gets Hurt the Worst if Trump Wins

If Shrillary manages to blow it against the most beatable candidate Democrats have ever faced, those who get hurt the worst will not be the illegal aliens Trump probably won’t really deport, even on his proposed touchback amnesty basis. It will be the self-interested talk radio demagogues who enabled him.

A Shrillary victory will guarantee 4 years of scandal and failure. Rush et al. will pump their traffic by screaming in outrage, pausing occasionally to chide the treasonous NeverTrumpers who supposedly brought about this horrible situation with their recalcitrance and outmoded principles.

No one will remember that most radio hosts were not always fans of The Donald. I seem to recall Dennis Prager accurately describing him as a “lowlife,” before Prager pulled an abrupt 180° and started denouncing those who won’t vote for the lowlife as virtue signalers, moral preeners, high horse riders, et cetera. Mark Levin and Hugh Hewitt have been more reserved, but it is clear that both dislike Trump even though they encourage us to vote for him. El Rushbo himself, who did as much as anyone to make him the nominee simply by inappropriately treating him as a legitimate candidate, has said that Trump is not conservative — despite his countless awkward attempts to spin in Trump’s favor.

If Trump wins, they will be called upon to safeguard the cheesy fraud they passed off as a Republican president. Defending him from his many enemies and from his own unfitness for office will not be fun, given that Trump knows almost nothing about policy or the inner workings of government and has shown neither the interest nor the aptitude to learn, given that Democrats will be revved up and united against an easily demonized caricature, given that the media will devote all of its energies to the child’s play of reducing what little reputation Trump has to utter waste, given that Putin will continue to exploit Trump’s twisted admiration for him, given that the world is a far more complex place than can be managed by tweeting insults, given his penchant for sowing enmity everywhere, and given the conspicuous defects in his temperament and character.

America can probably survive even a Trump presidency. The same might not be true of talk radio.
