Berlin Terror Witness: ‘My Girlfriend Saw a Child Under the Truck’

Witnesses to the Berlin attack by truck that left a dozen dead and several dozens more injured said they saw a young child crushed beneath the wheels – a horrific image that ought to go down in history as the face of Islamic terror.

“Tourists saw a young child being crushed underneath the hijacked truck which ploughed through a Berlin Christmas market … killing 12 and wounding around 50.

“Mike Fox and his partner were a ‘few metres’ from being run down by the lorry driven by an unknown attacker who managed to flee the scene of the carnage.

“‘There were children in the market. My girlfriend saw a child under the truck,’ Mr Fox said shortly after the attack near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church on Breitscheidplatz.”

Other witnesses described bodies strewn in the streets, among Christmas lights and holiday market booths, as “rivers of blood” poured from the scene, the news outlet reported.

A British woman, meanwhile, told BBC 5Live how she held the hand of a man who was dying, and tried to comfort him as he tried vainly to move.

“He was trying to get up but his head injury was quite severe,” Sarah Dobler, who was visiting the market with her boyfriend, said to BBC 5Live. “I couldn’t understand what he was saying … so I just held his hand and told him everything was going to be OK. … I remember holding that man’s hand until someone from the rescue ambulance came along.

And then she addd this, the Daily Mail recounted:

“It was like being in a horror film. I can’t explain everything that we saw. We tried to send away people coming to the area, especially children, because we didn’t want them to see what we saw.”

Police are still hunting for the suspect who drove the truck into the Christmas market crowd on Monday.
