ISIS Bomb Plot Thwarted in London, Two Jihadis Charged

An ISIS bomb plot has been thwarted in London after it was discovered that an Eritrean asylum seeker was planning to bomb the United Kingdom.

Munir Hassan Mohammed, 35, was planning to bomb the UK around the anniversary of 7/7/2005, Britain’s worst terror attack, in which four jihadis detonated bombs on London Underground trains, killing 52 and injuring more than 700 people.

The 35-year-old has been charged with being a member of ISIS, disseminating terrorist publications, and possessing instructions to build an explosive device inside a cell phone.

Rowaida El Hassan, 32, of London, appeared in court alongside Mohammed. She is also being charged with planning terrorism and possessing instructions to build explosives.

Mohammed and Hassan were two of  six people arrested by detectives from the North East Counter Terrorism Unit on December 12.

Two people have appeared in court charged with a string of terror offences.

Munir Hassan Mohammed, 35, of Derby, and Rowaida El Hassan, 32, of north London, appeared before Westminster magistrates court.

Mohammed is accused of preparing an act of terrorism between the anniversary of 7/7 this year until his arrest in December, being a member of Islamic State and possessing instructions on how to build an explosive device inside a mobile phone. It is also alleged he disseminated terrorist material.

Hassan is accused of preparing for an act of terror and possessing a record of how to build an explosive device inside a mobile phone.

The pair were among six people arrested across the country on 12 December, the rest of whom have since been released, police said.

They were remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on 12 January.
