Along with gays, Hollywood actresses would be among the first to take the one way trip up in the elevator should the Caliphate ever extend to Tinseltown.

This prominent cleric is not reinventing or reinterpreting sharia, hadith or Quran. His fatwa is consistent with Islamic texts and teachings. The Muslim Brotherhood’s second great theorist, after its founder Hasan al-Banna, was Sayyid Qutb, “the father of modern [Islamic] fundamentalism.” He sharpened his distaste for the West while living in the United States from November 1948 to August 1950. His disgust with the gaudy materialism of postwar America was intense. Moving to Greeley, Colorado, he was impressed by the number of churches in the city, but not with the piety they engendered: “Nobody goes to church as often as Americans do. . . . Yet no one is as distant as they are from the spiritual aspect of religion.” He was thoroughly scandalized by a dance after an evening service at a local church: “The dancing intensified. . . . The hall swarmed with legs . . . Arms circled arms, lips met lips, chests met chests, and the atmosphere was full of love.” The pastor further scandalized Qutb by dimming the lights, creating “a romantic, dreamy effect,” and playing a popular record of the day: “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” When he returned to Egypt, he characterized the influence of the West in the Muslim world as an unmitigated evil….. read the whole thing here.

Saudi cleric brands cinema and pop concerts DEPRAVED in fresh rant against the West

SAUDI Arabia’s top religious cleric has condemned cinemas and pop concerts as “depraved” and warned that “immoral, atheist” films are dangerous and could change the country’s culture.

Madcap Grand Mufti Abdul-Aziz bin Abdullah al-Sheikh, who believes girls should be allowed to marry at the age of 10, launched his latest astonishing attack in an interview on Saudi TV.

His rant began when was asked about plans of the Saudi General Authority for Entertainment to license concerts and consider opening cinemas in the oil-rich desert kingdom.

He said: “We know that singing concerts and cinemas are a depravity.

“Cinemas are a danger as they might show movies that are libertine, lewd, immoral and atheist and because they rely on films imported to change our culture.”

The killjoy cleric also declared there was “no good” in signing concerts and said both forms of entertainment represented a “call for mixing between sexes.”

He said: “At the beginning they would assign areas for women, but then both men and women will end up in one area. This corrupts morals and destroys values.”

The Grand Mufti said “entertainment through cultural and scientific media is OK” but warned the Saudi General Authority for Entertainment should “not open doors to evil.”
Saudi Arabia has just one cinema – an IMAX theatre in the city of Khobar – which is only permitted to screen documentaries.
