Democrats oppose him becoming Attorney General because he’s a conservative. The think he’s stupid and a racist because he doesn’t come from either coast. He’s from Alabama where people fly over but never to. And look at those ears! He looks like one of the kids in Little Rascals.
They thought they could drum up some false charges and keep him from taking office as the highest law man in the land. They accused him of racism but he has a history of fighting it. But they hadn’t counted on a couple things. First, it was not Republicans, but rather Democrats, who opposed racial equality. The Republican party came into being to fight slavery and to bring justice to America’s minorities.
I was accused in 1986 of failing to protect the voting rights of African-Americans…of condemning civil rights advocates and organizations, and even harboring, amazingly, sympathies for the KKK,” Sessions said. “These are damnably false charges.”
Diane Feinstein then tried to corner him on Abortion:
You have referred to Roe v. Wade as, quote ‘One of the worst, most colossally erroneous Supreme Court decisions of all time. Is that still your view?”
Sessions’ answer: “It is.”
Yes, Sessions explained that Roe is the law of the land and that he would follow it, an assurance he repeated later in the day. But the moment showed a nominee in a very direct frame of mind.”
I’d have to agree with Sen. Sessions about Roe V Wade. Patrick Leahy questioned Sessions about Trump’s so-called “Muslim ban” proposal. Durbin challenged Sessions on immigration, and then added,
Tell me I’m wrong.”
“Well, you are wrong,” said Sessions. More directness.
The hearing went like that all day. Sessions is qualified for the job. Democrats are running scared because the Obama progressive years are over. Their party is in disarray and they know it. They will not stop Sen. Sessions.
