The Trump administration has frozen Obama’s parting gift to the the Palestinians.
Former US President Barack Obama, in his waning hours, quietly released $221 million to the Palestinian Authority (PA), which Congress had been blocking.
The Trump administration announced it is freezing the move.
The State Department is reviewing the last-minute decision by former Secretary of State John Kerry to send $221 million dollars to the Palestinians.
Kerry formally notified Congress that State would release the money Friday morning, just hours before President Donald Trump took the oath of office.
The funds — supposedly intended for reconstruction in Gaza and good governance programs for the Palestinian Authority — were being blocked by at least two Republican lawmakers— Ed Royce (R-CA), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Kay Granger (R-TX), who sits on the House Appropriations Committee — in response to Palestinian attempts to join international organizations, from which it intended to launch more international campaigns against Israel and before a peace deal with Israel.
Such holds are generally respected but are not legally binding.
When asked about the transfer by a reporter during Tuesday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that “[Trump] is very concerned about how taxpayer money is spent, whether it’s sent overseas and what we get for it in terms of the relationship or our support for a democracy or aid to another country for their defenses. But he’s going to be examining all aspects of the budget… He’s going to make sure that every deal, every dollar that is spent by the government is done in a way that respects the American taxpayer.”

I like your summary, but I would like to add a few things.
Forty-six or so cities and many more villages in Judea were captured in the Assyrian captivities along with all of the northern 10 tribes more than one hundred years before the Babylonian captivity. The number from the tribes of Judah, Benjamin and Levi captured and taken with the nation of Israel was over 200,000. That means there was a partial reintegration of the Israelite people between 700 and 600 BC. Those people never returned to the Promised Land, were instrumental in working with the Medes and Persians when Babylon was conquered and migrated north and west to Europe and beyond with the other tribes.
When the House of Judah finally left Babylon around 536BC, only 43,000 or so went back to Judea. And of that number about 8,000 were a mixed, non-Israelite people. That means despite millions going into captivity, only a fraction of their children ever went back. Josephus records that millions crossed the Euphrates and started their long migration behind their brothers. The Apocrypha records their travels as far as Romania. Only enough Israelites were left in the promised land to fulfill the promises and to give birth to Yahshua.
With the vacuum left when the captivity began and with so few Israelites having returned to Judea, it was easy for the Edomites, Idumeans (from south of Judea) and other Canaanites to come in and call the place their own. Some of them went to Babylon and usurped the scriptures with their own traditions (Talmud) and by the time the captivity ended, found themselves in control of much of the government and religion. It is these people, separate from the Israelites, who we know as Jews. Remember, Esau became Edom and the Jewish Encyclopedia states that Edom is found in modern Jewry. Later some of these people went west to Spain (Sephardic Jews) and some went north east and convinced the Khazarian king to adopt Judaism as his national religion and thus the influx of the Khazarian Jew. Also, don’t forget that in the original scriptures there was no word “Jew” as we use it today. That word in our modern translations came from a word that means Judean. It simply meant someone of any race, creed or religion from that region. It was like saying I am a Californian. It was not a word used to describe any religious or racial group. It is probably the biggest cause of confusion in the Bible today and was most likely mistranslated on purpose to change the perceived identity of His people. (And yes, this is physical, not spiritual and it does matter.)
Let’s also not forget that through all their captivities and migrations the Israelites forgot who they were. Yahshua said He was sent to the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel and Paul was sent to the Gentiles (nations). Study will show that these groups are one and the same and are the lost Israelites and not non-Israelites coming into the fold. Anyone can receive salvation, but redemption and the promises are Israel’s alone in a very real and physical sense. Whether we know it or not, only we have fulfilled all of Yahweh’s promises to us.
