University of Washington Shooting - Further Update

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Friday night’s shooting at the University of Washington is taking on the aspects of a real mystery. The only new news this morning is that the victim is breathing on his own. We also note that the article is retracting its previous description of Milo Yiannopoulos as a member of “the Alt-Right” movement.

Also breathing on his own quite well is the apparent shooter, who was released from custody Saturday after claiming self defense. I assume he is well known to the local police and they feel comfortable letting him go while they investigate the circumstances of the shooting. Perhaps they have preliminary indications it was self defense. Other than that, I am guessing just like you are.

I am also guessing how UW’s president, Ana Mari Cauce can make a statement that other than the shooting it was a otherwise peaceful protest. Bricks were thrown at cops, and at least two men were beaten by members of the crowd, but it was an otherwise peaceful protest. Go figure.

“I am absolutely heartbroken that someone was shot on our campus during tonight’s protest. I have been very proud of our students who, to the best of my knowledge, acted with restraint, whether they were planning to attend the event or protest it peacefully. It is an outrage that anyone would resort to violence in the middle of this otherwise peaceful protest.”
-Ana Mari Cauce

What we are still trying to figure out here is which side the shooter and victim were on. My final comment to this update is this: I don’t know what the gun laws are in Washington, but why anyone would take a gun to such a volatile event as this is beyond me. I am a Second Amendment guy, but it seems like an exercise in bad judgment-unless you are in law enforcement and had some other reason to be there. Just wild speculation.
