CBS News Claims Lady Liberty Was Originally Intended to Be a Muslim Woman

The “mainstream” media has gone so far off the rails, this is what passes for news now:

Like much of the fake news coughed up by the liberal establishment, this absurd lie is based on a grain of truth, twisted out of context in order to deceive. Twitchy explains:

French sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi had at one time pitched the idea of a massive, draped sculpture holding a torch that would act as a lighthouse [at] the entrance to the Suez Canal.

That project obviously fell through, but Bartholdi held on to the idea and successfully re-pitched it — hardly proof that the Statue of Liberty was “originally intended” to be a Muslim woman.

This history is not a new revelation, but fairly common knowledge. Bartholdi’s Suez Canal concept was not meant to represent Islam. He called it “Egypt (or Progress) Brings Light to Asia.” Egypt had been a great center of civilization for many centuries, before Islam coercively benighted the region. The Suez Canal, built by Europeans, represented a return of advanced civilization to Egypt.

But it would be nice to think Lady Liberty really was originally intended to be Muslim. At least, it would be nice, if you are an Islamophile moonbat, eagerly obsequious toward all things Muslim, like the propagandists who bring you the “news.”
