In Choosing Tom Perez To Lead Them Democrats Have Sealed Their Fate

They had several candidates to choose from that wanted to take the party in a new direction. Sheikh Keith Ellison wanted to take the party further left. He was supported by Bernie Sanders. That should tell you plenty. Instead the voters chose Perez.

Perez is not familiar with how to get people elected. He has only held one elected office. He was elected to the Montgomery County Council in 2002. He tried to run for Attorney General of Maryland, but was disqualified for not having 10 years of legal experience in Maryland. He was appointed to the position of Secretary of labor by Barack Obama in 2013.

Perez doesn’t have a message for Democrats that will help them regain their lost political status. Instead he has vowed to oppose President Trump at every turn.

Perez takes the helm of a party that is bogged down in scandal and is deeply divided. But instead of trying to bring the factions together he has decided to follow in the steps of the outgoing Chair Donna Brazile who said at the election meeting that Democrats were going to, “Kick a whole bunch of ass”.

He was a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton.
