(Before It's News)

Florida Governor Rick Scott replaced Republican South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, now the US Ambassador to the United Nations, and was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association. Scott Walker, Republican Governor of Wisconsin and the chairperson of the Republican Governor’s Association, made the announcement in a statement to the media.

Speaking on the new appointment, Governor Scott said that he was “honored to serve in this new role for the RGA and help build upon our momentum that led to today’s near-century high of 33 Republican governors. The RGA has proved time and again that it is the most effective political organization in the country and I look forward to helping the RGA continue that tradition.”

In his reelection bid against the Democrat Charlie Crist, the Republican Governor’s Association supported Scott and spent over $18 million to help him defeat Christ.

Governor Walker praised Rick Scott, who’s position could now elevate his name to a national profile, and Walker explained that “Governor Rick Scott’s leadership and electoral experience will be a tremendous asset to the RGA as we recruit candidates, fundraise, and continue to build a solid foundation of resources for 38 gubernatorial elections over the next two years.”
