Horrors! Shepard Smith An Alinskyite?

(Before It's News)

I listened to the self-important Shepard Smith yesterday when he went after the Trump White House in general and Kellyanne Conway in particularly. It was not news. It was a classic display of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. I see these play here:

3. “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.

“5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

6. “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones.

13. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

There may be more.

“‘Well, history’: Fox’s Shep Smith says he tries to avoid quoting Kellyanne Conway”

There are many ways to surveil each other,” Conway said in a Sunday interview with the Record, a New Jersey newspaper. “There was an article this week that talked about how you can surveil someone through their phones, through certainly their television sets — any number of different ways. Microwaves that turn into cameras, et cetera. So we know that is just a fact of modern life.”

Airing a clip of that quote, Smith responded: “Fox News can now confirm microwaves heat food.”

Yes, I’m certain Mr. Smith is infallible. I’m also sure that everyone expects Ms. Conway to be an expert on surveillance. Last I heard she was a political consultant. From observation it has become clear that all Smith has to sell is snark.

The Fox News Channel is supported by largely older middle Americans who, if anything like me, are put off with this level of sneer and snide. I suggest Mr. Smith follow some of his other colleagues to places like CNN and MSNBC where his style will be welcomed.
