The original travel ban issued in January was controversial and spurred several protests across the nation because it called for a 90-day halt on nationals from seven countries that are predominantly Muslim. Now, Kellyanne Conway, a Trump aide, comments that a new immigration executive order will not include Iraq and that it will be in effect March 16.

During an interview on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends,” Conway explained that “This is a very important week in this White House where the president is going to continue to act on, along with the Congress, major pieces of his legislative and executive agenda.”

In addition, she said “That includes a new executive order today … and what’s different about it, it has an effective date of March 16, and there are the legal permanent residents were always excluded from it but that’s made much more clear now. If you have travel docs, if you actually have a visa, if you’re a legal permanent resident, you are not covered under this particular executive action.”

She also stated that “Syrian refugees are treated the way all refugees are.”

On Saturday, President Trump met with Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and other administration officials at his Mar-a-Lago resort in the Sunshine State.
