David Goldman writes,

For friends who are confronted by Black Lives Matter activists with the question: “Do Black lives matter?,” I suggest this answer:
“Why does anyone’s life matter? We’re alone in an unfeeling universe, an insignificant speck of carbon in an enormous galaxy among 200 billion galaxies, while our synapses flash and flicker out in a minuscule cut of time, chasing our petty illusions and trying to distract our gaze from the fact that our lives don’t matter….Unless, perhaps, there is a God who cares about us. Assume that there is such a God: if you addressed your question to Him, what would He say?”
